Commercial for the the
Midwest National Abstract Art Exhibition VIII
The hottest new place in Indy to see some of the nation’s best non-traditional art is the
Midwest National Abstract Art Exhibition VIII. This unique show is dedicated to showcasing
abstract art from across the USA.
Thirty-eight professional artists were juried into this annual exhibit.
They represent 9 states including California, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan,
Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Florida, and New York. The 53 paintings on display
feature a wide spectrum of abstract styles and contemporary media.
All art work is for sale, so collectors are urged to come early.
This annual exhibit is sponsored by the Southside Art League, Inc. of Greenwood,
and located at The Garfield Park Arts Center, 2432 Conservatory Drive
(which is in the center of the park near the Pagoda) in Indianapolis.
The opening night black tie optional Opening Reception and Awards will be
Saturday evening September 29, from 6:00 till 8:00 PM.
Come and enjoy the paintings September 29 through November 4, 2012.
Exhibit hours are Sun. 1:00 – 5:00 PM, Mon. & Tues. – Closed, Wed.
& Thurs. 4:00- 9:00 PM, Fri.9:00 AM – 1:00 PM, and Sat. 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
This exhibit is free. And don’t forget to vote for the People’s Choice Award while you are there.

ATTENTION SALI ARTIST MEMBERS:
of you are invited to be a part of the SALI Gallery's Fall Exhibition.
The show will begin with a Second Friday reception from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Friday, September 14, at the gallery.
Everyone is invited to come, view the artwork, and enjoy refreshments and fellowship. The theme is "Hocus Pocus/ Illusions"
and should be fun for each of us as we look through our paintings/ sculptures with imagination to pick out three artworks for this special show.
Remember, any painting can be made to fit this "fun" exhibition. The details are:
1) Artwork drop-off and pick-up is Tuesday, September 11, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the gallery.
2) Up to three artworks are acceptable.
3) A $20 hanging fee is due at drop-off.
4) Update your files and sign up for your choice of volunteer days in September and October.
you are bringing artwork for the first time, we ask that you complete a
training session (1 hour) for volunteering to host the gallery.
The date for that is scheduled for Tuesday, September 11 at 1:30 pm at the gallery.
We look forward to a very special show and seeing all of you there.

Lisa's students really put on a great show and had a large attendance.
Lisa is a member and instructor of SALI and her classes are held at The City of Greenwood Community Center
which is where this event was held.
This is a wonderful opportunity for children to discover a new talent or improve upon a current one.
Lisa has current openings in her classes.
Although most of her students are kids of all ages, adults who new to the art world are
happily invited to take a class or two as well.

The reception Saturday evening was a huge success.
Around 100 people attended and enjoyed the fantastic buffet, music, wine and beautiful art.
The exhibit will be at the Garfield Park Arts Center through November 13th

Senior Citizens' Center Art Exhibition I (Tap for Show)
This was a great evening for all attendees. SALI and the Greenwood Senior Citizens'
went all out in this collaboration displaying the various forms of art.
Arts of many types were on display and will continue to be as a continuing exhibit.
Art such a landscapes, oils, watercolor, abstracts, portraits were on display
with other forms of art such as fabric and collages.
Refreshments were served by way of a buffet table and a wine cart with select wines and other beverages.
There was ample time to meet with the artists and the SALI's and the Senior Center's
Members of each of the respective Boards .
